#DancePractice | Original Dance Music Series / 120BPM / Loop Ready
I'm excited to share that my new instrumental track "Shadows Between the Notes" is dropping on October 30th, 2025 – and you can pre-save it on Spotify right now!
If you've been following my shorts or background music videos, you know I love blending unexpected genres. This time, I wanted to create something that feels like watching a late-night film in an empty theater – cinematic, introspective, and just a little bit lonely in the best way possible.
"Shadows Between the Notes" sits somewhere between tango, lo-fi, and ambient. Imagine the soul of Buenos Aires at 3AM, wrapped in warm vinyl crackle and soft Rhodes piano. It's music for those quiet moments when you're staring out the window, lost in thought.
πΉ The Sound
At the heart of the track is a melancholic bandoneon lead (that iconic tango accordion sound) dancing over a bed of lo-fi textures. I layered it with:
Dreamy Rhodes piano chords
Deep, warm sub-bass that you can feel
Muted, shuffling lo-fi drums
Vinyl hiss and lush reverb for that nostalgic, worn-tape vibe
A memorable hook that (hopefully!) will stick with you
The whole thing moves at 88 BPM in A minor – slow enough to breathe, rhythmic enough to keep you engaged. I used gentle sidechain compression to create this subtle "breathing" effect, like the music itself is inhaling and exhaling with you.
π Why "Shadows Between the Notes"?
The title came from thinking about what makes music feel emotional – it's not just the notes themselves, but the space between them. The silence, the reverb tails, the way sound fades into darkness.
This track is all about those in-between moments: the shadows, the pauses, the things left unsaid. It's reflective without being heavy, melancholic without being sad.
It's perfect for:
Late-night work sessions
Rainy day reading
Contemplative walks
Background music for creative projects
Just... vibing
